Three Grace Brethren military chaplains, all from Fort Campbell, Ky., home of the 101st Airborne Division, have recently deployed for nine-month tours in Afghanistan. The recent Eagle Commission newsletter shared this news.

[Those deployed include:] Bill Graham (wife, Robin), Pete Stone (wife, Monica), and Jim Murray (wife, Ashley). We received this email from Ashley Murray, shortly after Jim’s deployment, along with a picture of the family on the day of departure. “Jim has arrived safely in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. He has had three days with the Chaplain he will be taking over from and has a preaching schedule on Sunday nights at 7:30 p.m. at the contemporary Protestant worship service. Thank you for your prayers for Margo’s transition through this difficult time. We are praising the Lord that she has gotten out of her separation anxiety phase and is having no trouble going to PWOC (my on-post Bible study) and Sunday School! We have been able to teach her so many life lessons of relying on God through the pain of missing her Daddy and we keep pointing her to the One who has the comfort and answers to her feelings – and I keep reminding myself of those lessons too! Pray for me as I stay involved in our Fort Campbell community. We are trying to adjust to our “new normal” of having our family separated during this time and are doing well by God’s grace. I am trying to stay available for families so pray that I will have opportunities to encourage and share the One source of our strength. Thank you again for your time and prayer support of our family. We feel like we have been able to thrive through this beginning of the deployment with the strength of your prayers over us! – Jim, Ashley, and Margo
