The most recent newsletter from the Eagle Commission has been released. Here are a few highlights from John W. Schumacher, PhD, Chaplain (Colonel) USA, Ret., Chaplain Endorsing Agent, FGBC:
He reports that eight chaplains and two wives attended the Eagle Commission dinner during national conference (Margins 2016) in Toronto. “The people heard encouraging accounts of ministry opportunities from CH Penfold, currently the Garrison Chaplain at Ft. Jackson, S.C.; CH James Schaefer, the Installation Chaplain at Ft. Benning, Ga.; CH Youstra, currently assigned to the Joint Chiefs office in the Pentagon; CH Graham, recently assigned to the Chaplain School at Ft. Jackson, S.C.; CH Hayes, now assigned to Mayport/Jacksonville, Fla., and currently on sea duty; CH Prado, on Reserve Duty assigned at Luke AFB, Ariz.; CH Rosenberg, on Reserve Duty with the Army; and a chaplain candidate, Jonas Winbolt.”
Schumacher also noted that Matt Frost just graduated from Chaplain Basic Officer Leadership Course at Ft. Jackson, S.C. He is pictured with CH Penfold who is the Garrison Chaplain there. Matt is now a Chaplain (Reserve status).
A new chaplain was also introduced in the newsletter. USAF CH Phil Smith has joined the ranks of the Grace Brethren chaplains. He is pictured with his wife, Penny.
Schumacher also encouraged churches to invite the chaplains to speak when possible. (Contact them directly to set up a date.) CH Youstra recently preached at the Lehigh Valley Grace Brethren Church, Bethlehem, Pa. (Larry Humbard, senior pastor) and the Grace Church, Lancaster, Pa. (Scott Becker, campus pastor).
